Following college, he moved to Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers were all-pro three times and started his business career. While he was in college, he commanded the team of 1975. In 1993 he joined the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame through his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
